Sourdough Bread II

Another one I haven't tried. This one is faster and uses a little yeast instead of setting overnight.

1 1/2cupWarmed milk
2 1/2tspYeast
1cupSourdough starter
1/4cupCanola oil
1tspSalt
1tbspSugar
1/2tspBaking soda
4 1/2cupBread flour
2tbspCanola oil
1eaEgg
1tbspWater

Mix together the warmed milk, yeast, sourdough starter, canola oil.

In a separate bowl mix together the salt, sugar, baking soda and flour.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix.

Knead the dough for 4 to 5 minutes.

Put a light dusting of flour on the dough, cover and let rise until doubled.

Divide the dough and place seam side down in greased bread pans.

Allow the dough to proof.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Mix together the canola oil, egg and water to make the bread wash.

Brush the bread wash on the top of the loaves just prior to baking.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

After removing from the oven, let them set for 10 minutes and then remove from pans.
